The painting is very dark and muted. We have obtained an old painting that is an outdoor scene with the painters initials of E.H. Who is E.H.? ?
There are several artists with those initials. Could you photograph the signature and a portion of the image to help me identify? What does the medium seem to be (i.e., oil, tempera, watercolor, etc.)? Any other distinguishing marks or pieces of information would be helpful. If it is framed in what looks to be original framing, it will help to narrow the time period as well. Being dark and muted could be a sign of style and/or age of the work.
