What is the best way to market an outdoor teen summer painting group?

I want to have two sessions, once a week for 6 weeks of outdoor watercolor painting in my area. I need help getting started and would like to find the best way to gain interest. I thought of contacting the local school and seeing if the art teacher thinks that there is an interest. Also, placing an ad in the newspaper. Ask local art shop to put up posters (they may well sell more products and may even give you a discount on your equipment); posters in schools and leisure centres. Good to get local teachers involved. perhaps even let your newspaper know and see whether they will do a small article on the idea. remember, the parents may pay for the course, and may encourage their children to take part, so advertise where adults will see as well.What is the best way to market an outdoor teen summer painting group?
I think you should definately contact local art teachers and ask them to tell their students about it maybe. If there is a crafts store or art supply store in your area you could try asking the owner if you could advertise there. Unless it is free i definately wouldn't post an ad in the newspaper. Most people, and particularly teens almost never read the newspaper. The internet is the source of news for just about all teens right now. Also if there is a movie theater in the area you could ask them if you could put up an ad on a window or the wall outside.
I'm planning on starting a community theater so I can relate. Try advertising at libraries, near computers or in the ';teen'; section or popular teen hang-outs like local cafes or restaurants. Go to places that specialize in teen activities like our town has a Recreation and Parks which provide after school activities or summer activities to all ages. Def go to the schools and get it out there and in the newspaper, although many teens don't really read the news paper, but parents do and they might mention it to their kids. The best way to spread news is simply by mouth so you just need to mention it to parents you know who have teens.
