Can Oil Based Outdoor patio paint be used as Marine paint?

Someone told us that we could use outdoor patio paint on our fiberglass boat. They said it was the same grade of paint. Does anyone have any experience with this? Can Oil Based Outdoor patio paint be used as Marine paint?
i wish it would be good but its not you have to use a marine paint theres additives in itCan Oil Based Outdoor patio paint be used as Marine paint?
not on the bottom, it won't adhere, the water will suck it right off while under way. and if the boat's in a slip, marine growth will have a field day
If you are talking about painting the hull of the boat, NO. Boat paint is made to be in the water 24/7. Exterior oil based paint is not.
Porch paint is fine on a wooden boat but doesn't stick so well to the fiberglass. you need to use something like an epoxy paint.
