We want to get the 'bleached seaside' look on our outdoor furniture. Have got the blue paint but don't know how to achieve the desired effect. Help please?How to achieve 'distressed' paint effect on outdoor furniture?
I just responded to a faux finish question, and have done this often.
Rather than PAINT, I use glazes, and yes wipe or use a stiff brush to remove some of the glaze. The effect depends on your feelings of ';IT';S DONE';
You can also play a bit. Take paint of a diff color,,,IE: A yellow, brown, black, and spatter some drops on the piece.
You can finish coat with crackle paint.
You can age a piece or create shadowing etc, by using spray paints applied rapidly and at a distance to insure no build up.
You truly have so many ways to accomplish this,,,and have fun in the process.
Rev. StevenHow to achieve 'distressed' paint effect on outdoor furniture?
First put on a layer of the blue paint and let dry. After the paint is dry, add a thick layer of white or grey paint and wipe it back off with a damp rag. Don't wipe it completely. Leave enough so that it looks ';smeared'; on..
Good Luck!
