I have several wooden flower boxes on my deck that I am sick to death of. They have been exposed to the elements, but were sealed when purchased. They were too expensive to just throw away. What is the best way to paint them. For instance, primer? paint? sealer? Help! What outdoor paint should I use for Flower boxes?
Use some sandpaper to rough the surface....like a 150-200 grit. Use tac cloth to wipe saw dust away. Use a primer and paint with an exterior semi gloss paint. This will allow you to wipe them clean when they get dirty.
If you don't rough up the surface, having been already sealed, then whatever you put on them won't stick.
Rustoleum is an excellant product but I'd be confident telling you that as long as you prime then paint, any good brand will do. Behr, True Value, Benjamin Moore, etc. Oil based paint and primers seem to last longer, also. What outdoor paint should I use for Flower boxes?
Believe me when I tell you that Rustoleum brand paint is the best for outdoor wood.
I know that oil based Rustoleum is used for painting metal,,and rusty metal at that. But I have been useing it to paint some outdoor wooden things also for quite a few years.
It is the best,,hands down.
The only thing is that it only comes in a few colors. But those colors are quite nice and bright.
Don't buy the spray cans,,,they thin it out so you can spray it. Buy the cans. A little bit goes a long way. And no need to prime.
Whatever you do, make sure you do the inside. That's where 95% of the moisture comes from
Gripper %26gt; ICI Dulux PAINTS
theres only one ....Cuprinol..all colors.
